The Paton Fellow Scholarship Program
In 2013, the Paton Fellow Scholarship Program was established to encourage and influence Michigan undergraduate students to consider an accounting-related career.
Each year, based upon available funding, rising University of Michigan juniors or seniors are selected as Junior Paton Fellows. At the time of application, they are enrolled in the winter term of their sophomore or junior year and have completed ACC 300, ACC 302, or ACC 471. Most applicants are unsure of their career path at the time of submission. As part of their application, they submit a 300-word essay addressing the question: “What is the role of an accountant in today’s business realm? Even if you don’t intend to pursue a career in public accounting, how would you thrive in this role?”
